I want to relish in
your body’s wonders
but not in the absence
of your affection
or at the expense of
your devotion
and respect for
who I am

without your
affections
there is a void
I cannot fill

your kisses silence
fears
your embrace melts
all my concerns

no
temporary
moment of ecstasy
is worth the
awareness of
you
not truly being there
in the room
with me
in moments that should
be deeply shared

I wait
for that gesturing touch
approving advancement
to delve and dive
into intimacy
that moment of
knowing we have time
energy
and internal solitude
to truly appreciate
all that we have
in each other
