I told my parents

Valentine that year
resigned
I’d completely given up
on finding a love
that would last
so I decided
to stop chasing

so many times
broken up
in disappointment
always
pursuing with
insecurity
trying to find
someone to fill a gap
instead of being
someone
that someone
would want

one fateful evening
I felt an urgency
to go to a party
I would never go to
and there I met
you
and now
you are my past
present
and my future

was it destiny
that brought us
together
or just a roll of the
cosmic dice

I believe
it was destiny
even though we came
from opposite
sides of the world
I was chosen for you
(sorry)
and you for me

that’s how it was
always meant to be
