What’s a moment when you realised you were officially an adult?
when he is having trouble
with his friends
or his homework
or has questions about
the universe–
he calls me
that’s when I realised
I better at least try
to be a “grown up”
–at least
when my little boy
is around
other than that
I hope I never fully
lose the sense of
youthful mystery
and adventure
because unfortunately
somewhere in my head
that’s what “grown up”
and being an “adult”
means to me
responsibility plus work
and no time or energy
to enjoy the benefits
I know it’s not (always)
the case but nothing much
convinces my mind
otherwise
